Penske boys heading up the order
Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Will Power both made big gains in the Castrol Rankings after a strong IndyCar race at Kentucky for the veteran team.
Castroneves took his second victory of 2010 by a mammoth 13-second margin, the largest of the season, enabling him to gain four places and sit 24th - his highest position since April.
Power's eighth place at Kentucky moved him ahead of Fernando Alonso, Dario Franchitti and F1 world champion Jenson Button. He now sits sixth and is the best-placed IndyCar driver in the Castrol Rankings.
The third member of the Penske crew, Ryan Briscoe (22), had a bad race. He crashed out and fell seven places.
Panther Racing duo Ed Carpenter and Dan Wheldon both finished on the podium as the team enjoyed its best race of the year. Carpenter, whose entry was jointly-run with Vision Racing, climbed 151 places to 357, while Wheldon (53), was the biggest climber in the top 100 as he made up 17 spots.
Mario Moraes (88), a podium finisher in the corresponding race last year, finished only 18th and fell eight spots.
The top five remained unchanged with Sebastian Vettel - who retained the top spot for a 24th straight week. Jimmie Johnson (5) was the highest-ranked driver in action and closed in on fourth-placed Lewis Hamilton.
Johnson did this by boosting his score with a third place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta in his Hendrick Chevrolet.
Ahead of him were Tony Stewart (21) and Carl Edwards (25), the pair moving up two and five places respectively. Kasey Kahne (35) dropped six spots after being fired into the wall by Ryan Newman late on. Championship leader Kevin Harvick (13) blew a tyre and finished 33rd. He dropped two places in the Castrol Rankings as a result.
